Honoring JaJuan Keas: A Well-Respected UAW Brother at BCBSM
JaJuan Keas, member of Local 2256's Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan unit, passed away on January 26, 2026. JaJuan was more than just a colleague, he was someone who brought kindness, positivity, and genuine warmth into the building every single day.
Local 2256 President, and BCBSM Unit President, Amy Castanon, sent out a communication to the membership on 1/27/2026, "JaJuan worked at BCBSM for 6 plus years. We walked the picket line together; he touched everyone he came in contact with; he will be sorely missed by many of us. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers while they navigate through this very difficult time."

Across the enterprise, both union and non-union coworkers shared the same sentiment- JaJuan was a positive force to be around. He was known for his bright smile, welcoming nature, and the respect he showed to everyone he met. Whether you worked closely with him or only crossed paths in the hallway (or parking ramp), JaJuan made people feel seen and valued.
His positivity, strong work ethic, and kindness leave behind a legacy that will not be forgotten. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.
