As we draw closer to the Holiday, your Education Committee wants to remind you of one important truth: Our strength comes from standing together. Solidarity is more than just a word uttered during bargaining or tough times- it’s the everyday commitment we make to look out for one another, support each other, and ensure that our workplace is fair, safe, and respectful. When one member speaks up, it matters. When we all stand together, it changes everything.

The Power of Solidarity

Here are some examples of what solidarity looks like:

  • Supporting a fellow member in a meeting
  • Sharing vital information so no one is left out or uninformed
  • Showing up for your union brothers and sisters on the floor, in a meeting, or in the community
  • Respectfully holding leadership accountable and keeping communication open
  • Protecting our contract by knowing your rights and using them (learn and use the MLA)

Every act, large or small, strengthens all of us. Standing together is more than a moment, it’s a movement! One of the best ways to stay connected, stay informed, and stay strong is to get involved in the committees that keep our unit moving. If you are looking to get involved, connect with others in the community, or learn more about how we strengthen our unit (and local), our committee chairs and representatives are here to guide you and help you get started. Also, please review the attached calendar for meeting dates and times.
